Another disappointing night in Stockton

The Bakersfield Blaze took a commanding lead in early innings, ultimately scoring 9 runs. Whereas, the Stockton Ports, although making a valiant effort scoring 5 in the 8th to take the loss last night. Josh Whitaker was apparently called back up to the Double-A affiliate, Midland RockHounds, to join this year's recent callups Ryan Dull, Max Muncy, Blake Hassebrock, Pedro Vidal and Drew Granier. As a friend of mine mentioned in a recent tweet, 'we need fresh bats'. Not only have we lost some solid pitching but we've missed Muncy's swing and now Whitaker's. Although, its a catch-22, overall this is a good thing to see players move up and progress, the lower ranks suffer the loss of talent.

Tonight, James Simmons, starts for the Ports in this last game of the series with the Blaze. James is a very talented pitcher, having previously played with the Sacramento RiverCats last year. The A's felt it was necessary to send him to the Ports to improve his consistency. He's improved quite a bit since moving over dropping his ERA and increasing his wins. #GoPorts
