The Oakland A's had a stellar night as they beat the Toronto Blue Jays soundly, 14-6. Jed Lowrie and Yoenis Cespedes hit back-to-back HR's but the highlight of the night was Josh Reddick. He knocked out 3 homers in a 5 RBI night. The A's totaled 17 hits last night in their victory in Canada.
On a night that seemed not to be going the Dodgers way, the team, down by 6 runs heading into the 7th inning, started rally that wouldn't stop until the very last. In the ninth inning, still down by 3, Skip Schumacher scored on a Mark Ellis triple. Adrian Gonzalez doubled home Nick Punto who had already reached 2nd and had doubled in Ellis. Then, Jerry Hairston, Jr. stepped into the batter's box. He grounded a comebacker to Rays' pitcher, Fernando Rodney, a seemingly easy double-play except that, Rodney overthrew 2nd base to shallow center allowing Adrian Gonzalez to round 3rd and score on the walkoff/error. The Dodgers had won, 7-6.
"The magic is here, even at home!" Vin Scully exclaimed in his final call of the game.
